P.1 Transition Arrangements for pupils starting August 2023 (New 06.05.23)
We are very much looking forward to welcoming new P.1 pupils to our Burnside family in August. In preparation for this, we will be inviting our 'Burnside Butterflies' in to school on the afternoons of Friday 9th, Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th June (exact times tbc via e-mail) to visit their classrooms, meet classmates and be introduced to their teachers. We invite one parent/carer along on these days also so that we can provide further school information. Mrs. McGarvey has been catching up with parents/carers via telephone and visiting our local nurseries.
If you have had a placing request granted recently, we ask that you e-mail us your child's full birth certificate as soon as possible. Please e-mail to office@burnside-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk along with a contact telephone number and we will be in touch.
The Week Ahead, beginning January 16th. (New 15.01.23)
Unfortunately issues with our school app have not yet been resolved. We will let you know as soon as this is rectified. In the meantime, keep an eye on here and Twitter.....@burnsideprim for any important updates.
Please note that school will be open as normal this week; there is no planned strike action in SLC schools. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at 9 am.
P.1 Registration for 2023/24 - thank you to parents/carers who have registered their children for P.1 at Burnside Primary for August 2023. Once our office staff have checked all information sent, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement. Mrs. McGarvey, Head Teacher, will then be in touch via phone in the coming weeks. Children can be registered this week until Friday 20th January.
P.1 Registration for 2023/24 (New 09.01.23)
If your child will be 5 years old between 1 March 2023 and end of February 2024, they can now be registered for Burnside Primary, if you live within our catchment area. Please complete the online SLC registration form by Friday 20th January and once documents have been checked (full birth certificate and 2 proofs of address), our office staff will e-mail you to confirm that your child is registered. Mrs. McGarvey, Head Teacher, will then give you a call within the coming weeks to say 'hello'.
Please pass this information on to any parent/carer you know who intends to register a P.1 pupil at Burnside Primary for next session. Thank you.
Together at Burnside Primary we will:
Harness children’s abilities, encouraging ambition and resilience through a varied, challenging and enjoyable curriculum. We will foster personal achievement and skills for life in an inclusive, nurturing, respectful and shared environment.
Our pupils and our school community wanted our school values to reflect GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child) as we believe these are the building blocks of all learning. They shape our behavious and interactions with each other. It is important that we live these values every day; that we talk about them and commit to fulfilling them. Our 'Happy High 5' values mean we all strive to be:-
Safe Healthy Active Respectful Responsible
